Parker Messick came within three outs of making history Thursday night, carrying a no-hitter into the ninth inning to lead the Cleveland Guardians to a 4-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles. The 25-year-old right-hander delivered the best performance of his young career, silencing Baltimore’s lineup for more than eight innings and putting himself on the brink of the majors’ first no-hitter since Sept. 4, 2024. On that night, Shota Imanaga and two Chicago Cubs relievers combined to no-hit the Pittsburgh Pirates.
