ARLINGTON, Texas — Dak Prescott has etched his name into the Dallas Cowboys record book again.

Facing the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Prescott reset the Cowboys record for all-time passing yards with the franchise.

Prescott threw a 9-yard pass to George Pickens to start the Cowboys' first drive of the second half to set the record.

“I’m humbled, thankful to be healthy and to be in this position to do it,” Prescott told reporters Thursday. “I was on the production call earlier and they asked me the same thing: Would I have thought this 10 years ago? And I said, ‘Yeah, I was very arrogant as a rookie.’

“When you play in this game long enough and you can stay healthy, with my expectations of what my play is, that’s supposed to happen. Just thankful, humbled, super grateful to be playing the game I love at this high of a level.”

Prescott entered the contest 160 yards shy of Romo’s 34,183 career yards. Romo threw for that in 13 seasons with the Cowboys, including 10 starting at least one game. Prescott is in his 10th season with the franchise that selected him in the fourth round, 135th overall, of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Injuries to Romo and now-New Orleans Saints head coach Kellen Moore helped Prescott rise from fourth- to first-string on the depth chart during his debut training camp. He started Week 1 for the Cowboys in 2016 and has been the franchise starter since.

The Cowboys entered Week 11 with the second-most potent scoring offense and third most productive offense by yardage, even as their bottom-three defense contributed to a 4-5-1 start.

Prescott entered the week with a league-high 253 completions, Prescott completing 69.9% of his pass attempts for 2,587 yards, 21 touchdowns and six interceptions this year.

Prescott entered the week with 234 career passing touchdowns, 15 shy of surpassing Romo’s 248.
