The NFL has fined Buffalo Bills running back Ty Johnson $10,777 for "obscene gestures" as part of a crackdown on unsportsmanlike conduct. Johnson did a thrust-heavy celebration after scoring a go-ahead touchdown in the Bills' win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 11.
With less than a minute left in the first half, Johnson broke away on third-and-5 to sprint 52 yards for the touchdown. To celebrate, Johnson grabbed his leg, seemingly pretending to have sustained an injury (à la the Kansas City Current's Lo'eau LaBonta), and fell before grinding his pelvis against the ground twice.
Buffalo went on to win the game, 44-32, behind a six-touchdown night from quarterback Josh Allen.

The fine comes a couple of weeks after Carolina Panthers running back Rico Dowdle was fined $14,491 for a similar celebration. Dowdle did "two pumps" (i.e., thrusted his pelvis twice) in the celebration, referencing a "Key and Peele" skit.
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was also slapped with a $14,491 fine for an obscene gesture earlier in the season, making a "huevos" homage to the movie "Major League" after a big catch against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Johnson was fined nearly $4,000 less than both Dowdle and Kelce for his celebration, though it is not entirely clear why. (The $14,491 fine is the league's standard for a first offense on unsportsmanlike conduct.) In all, Johnson's fine comes out to $5,388.50 per pump.
Overall, the NFL has been busy cracking down on unsportsmanlike conduct. In addition to Johnson, six other players were fined for unsportsmanlike conduct, including Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens, who was flagged for "use of props" after jumping onto the goal post after a touchdown.
Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Jalen Ramsey was also fined for other unsportsmanlike conduct as a result of punching Cincinnati Bengals receiver Ja'Marr Chase last Sunday. Chase was suspended one game for spitting on Ramsey, sparking the altercation.
