Hannah Waddingham rocked up to the 2024 SAG Awards in a sparkly red gown — and a cardboard clutch made by her 9-year-old daughter.
The cardboard clutch, shaped like a prism, was decorated with colorful streaks and featured the word "epic" written across the front flap, photos show.
"My daughter has contributed to my evening bag for the night because the evening's going to be epic," Waddingham said during a red carpet interview during the event on Saturday, per a video uploaded on X.
The "Ted Lasso" star shared that her daughter had created the purse using "some spare bit of cardboard in the house" without knowing what she was wearing for the event, per the video.
"She kind of hazarded a guess and put all the colors, so it'll go with everything. You know what she called it? 'Mommy, it's like you say. It goes with everything and nothing bag,'" Waddingham said in the video, recalling her daughter's words.
Waddingham was nominated for outstanding performance by a female actor in a comedy series for her role in "Ted Lasso," where she plays Rebecca Welton, the divorced owner of a football team.
This is not the first time that the 49-year-old has spoken about the close relationship she shares with her daughter.
In March 2023, Waddingham told People that being a mother is the main priority in her life, despite the difficulties of balancing motherhood and her work schedule.
"My primary function is being a single mama," Waddingham told People. "But I keep saying to her that we are a team and that I have to do this. I have to strike while the iron is hot. I'm not so conceited that I would think that I will always have this kind of focus. I've always said to her, 'Mommy must take this time while the light shines on me, because the light shines on you.'"
Waddingham also told Glamour in October 2023 that her relationship with her daughter's father ended when her daughter was around two-and-a-half years old, and that being a single mother in her forties wasn't easy.
"I'm not going to lie, it's quite exhausting. One of the greatest acting jobs in my life is pretending I have energy to my daughter!" Waddingham told Glamour. "Being a single, working mum, I won't deny, is hard. But I try to show my daughter every day that she is worth it — and is my greatest achievement."
