Olympics 2036 in Germany would be 'historic opportunity': Bavarian PM

Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder has said he would welcome Olympic Games in Germany in 2036 because they would be an opportunity to showcase a changed country 100 years after the 1936 Games in Berlin which took place during the Nazi era. Söder told the Bild paper he disgrees with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier who said recently that Olympics in 2036 would be historically problematic and that he would prefer a bid for 2040 or 2044.
