The Dallas Cowboys honoured Marshawn Kneeland with a series of tributes before their 33-16 victory against the Las Vegas Raiders.
The 24-year-old was found dead earlier this month, after he had fled his car on foot following a crash that took place as he was pursued by police.
The Frisco Police Department in Texas said the defensive lineman appeared to have taken his own life.
After a bye in week 10 of the NFL, the Monday Night Football trip to the Raiders was the Cowboys' first game since Kneeland's death.
Both Raiders and Cowboys players wore shirts bearing Kneeland's face during their pre-game warm-up, while the Raiders jerseys carried a number for a suicide prevention helpline.

Quarterback Dak Prescott, whose brother Jace took his own life in 2020, wore a 'One Love' wristband, in homage to the phrase that Kneeland often used.
"I have no better peace than being on this field, and I know that's the same for a lot of guys out here," Prescott said.
"It was a blessing to be out here, this is where the healing happens for me. We love Marshawn, we're going to continue to shine a light for him and we're blessed to continue his light for him."
Prescott threw four touchdowns as the Cowboys earned their fourth win of the campaign.
The 32-year-old found CeeDee Lamb, Jake Ferguson and George Pickens in quick succession to push the visitors into a 24-6 lead before hitting Ryan Flournoy for his final connection.
