Giants’ Jaxson Dart excited to work with ‘explosive’ WR Ray-Ray McCloud

The Giants have been in search of more playmakers since losing star WR Malik Nabers to a torn ACL during their Week 4 matchup with the Chargers.

New York could look to make a bigger splash ahead of the trade deadline, but they did bring in an intriguing piece last week, signing Ray-Ray McLoud to the practice squad.

McLoud quickly landed with Big Blue after being cut by the Falcons.

The 29-year-old wasn’t elevated for Sunday’s game against the Eagles because he had only been with the team for two practices at the time, but he does stand a chance to make his Giants debut this week against the 49ers.

McCloud has been working on building his chemistry with QB Jaxson Dart.

According to SNY NFL Insider Connor Hughes, the two spent extra time together following Wednesday’s practice, first with other TE’s and WR’s, then with themselves.

Afterwards, Dart said he’s liked what he’s seen from McCloud.

“He’s explosive,” the rookie QB said. “I watched a lot of tape when I heard he was coming here. Following his career seeing the reception numbers, how explosive he is with the ball in his hands and the run after catch -- that's the word to describe him. He's a great worker and he's around late, so I'm excited to have him.”

McCloud saw his role dip this season, but he did post career-highs last year with the Falcons.

He served as a strong downfield threat for veteran QB Kirk Cousins, recording 62 catches for 686 receiving yards (765 yards from scrimmage) and a touchdown while making 13 starts.

Perhaps he'll be able to find that gear down the stretch in the Big Apple with Dart.
