Bears' Ben Johnson not worried about Tom Brady Fox production meetings this week with Raiders game on horizon

An 0-2 start to the season might keep Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson up at night, but he's not losing sleep over Tom Brady calling his team's Week 3 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.

"I really don't think it's that big of a deal, to be honest with you," Johnson told reporters Wednesday, when asked for his thoughts on meeting with Brady this week for Fox production meetings.

A seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback-turned-color analyst, Brady doubles as a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, whom the Bears play in Week 4. Brady was spotted in the Raiders' coaches booth Monday during their 20-9 loss to the Las Angeles Chargers, one day after he called Eagles-Chiefs for Fox.

ESPN's Peter Schrager reported from the "Monday Night Football" sideline that Raiders offensive coordinator Chip Kelly said he talks to Brady two to three times a week.

"They go through film, they go through the game plan and Brady is a luxury for the coaches," Schrager reported.

Raiders head coach Pete Carroll said the report about Brady meeting with Kelly multiple times a week to review film was "not accurate," although he did confirm that he and Kelly both talk to Brady regularly.

Fox Sports CEO Eric Shanks was asked Tuesday at a Front Office Sports conference if he believes a conflict of interest exists among Brady's allegiances to Fox and the Raiders.

“Not gonna answer that,” Shank said, per Front Office Sports. “If there’s a conversation that needs to be had after last night, we’ll have it.”

The NFL issued a statement Tuesday that affirmed Brady's Monday night coaches booth appearance as a limited team owner of the Raiders.

“There are no policies that prohibit an owner from sitting in the coaches’ booth or wearing a headset during a game,” league spokesman Brian McCarthy said in a statement to Yahoo Sports and others. “Brady was sitting in the booth in his capacity as a limited partner.

“All personnel sitting in the booth must abide by policies that prohibit the use of electronic devices other than league-issued equipment such as a Microsoft Surface Tablet for the Sideline Viewing System.”

Brady appears to operating within a gray area, and his coaches box appearance Monday night has elicited a mixed reaction from coaches and executives across the league, as evidenced by the latest report from Yahoo Sports' Jori Epstein.

Brady is scheduled to broadcast games of six of the Raiders' regular-season opponents. One of those is the Bears, and another is the Bears' Week 3 foe, the Cowboys.

Johnson, however, isn't fazed by that connection.

He emphasized Wednesday that Brady has access to the same game film as anybody else. The first-year head coach also noted that he wouldn't give up any of his secrets in any production meeting, regardless of the broadcast team or network.

"I'm in pure coach-speak mode," Johnson said.
