Jaire Alexander reportedly stepping away from football after one-game stint with Eagles

Cornerback Jaire Alexander told the Philadelphia Eagles Tuesday that he's stepping away from football to reset physically and mentally before deciding on his future, Jay Glazer reported for Fox Sports.

Alexander wasn't active for the Eagles during their 10-7 win over the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field, where the Louisville product called home the first seven seasons of his NFL career.

The Eagles gave up a 2026 sixth-round pick to the Baltimore Ravens on Nov. 1 in exchange for Alexander and a 2027 seventh-round pick.

Alexander signed a one-year, $4 million deal with the Ravens in June. At the time, it was reported he could earn up to $2 million more in incentives, but he played in only two games for Baltimore this season. He was a healthy scratch five times, but injuries were his issue the tail end of his Packers tenure, which notably included a pair of All-Pro seasons.
