Brody Jenner Was 'Miserable' Before Split with Kaitlynn Carter, Didn't Care About Miley Kiss: Source

Brody Jenner is living carefree in the wake of his split from Kaitlynn Carter.

Though The Hills: New Beginnings star, 35, has been embroiled with some drama following his split with Carter — who was recently photographed kissing Miley Cyrus in Europe — a source tells PEOPLE that Jenner “could not care less” about his ex.

“Brody doesn’t have a care in the world right now,” the source says. “He and Kaitlynn have been over for a very long time. He honestly could not care less about what she’s doing.”

Jenner has recently proven that’s the case by stepping out with his new flame, 22-year-old model Josie Canseco.

“He and Josie are hooking up, and he’s living it up,” the source adds. “His relationship with Kaitlynn was toxic, and he hated his life with her.”

The insider also mentions that Jenner and Carter’s relationship problems stemmed back to before they tied the knot in 2018.

“Their wedding day was this obligatory thing he felt he had to do, but they were already miserable,” the source explains.

Reps for Jenner and Carter did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Jenner and Carter, 30, wed in an intimate, ocean-front Indonesian wedding surrounded by 50 of their family members and friends. The place held extra significance for the couple, as it was where Jenner had originally proposed.

Just one year after their tying the knot, however, Jenner and Carter decided to call it quits.

“Brody and Kaitlynn have had issues for years. It is no secret amongst those who knew them. And the show was not good for them,” a source told PEOPLE earlier this month.

“It got so bad that Kaitlynn had actually moved out before they started filming, but then moved back in,” the source added. “Doing The Hills magnified a lot of things in their marriage and it became clear that it wasn’t going to work. They both knew it.”

Shortly after news of her split broke, Carter embarked on an Italian vacation with Cyrus, 26, and the singer’s older sister Brandi.

Miley Cyrus Drops Emotional New Song 'Slide Away' Days After Revealing Split from Liam Hemsworth

Miley Cyrus‘ latest song is all about letting go.

Just days after revealing she and husband Liam Hemsworth were separating after nearly eight months of marriage, the singer released a new song titled “Slide Away.”

Seemingly opening up in the lyrics about her split, Cyrus begins her song, “Once upon it was paradise, once upon a time I was paralyzed / I think I’m gonna miss these harbor lights / But it’s time to let it go.”

“Once upon a time it was made for us, woke up one day and it turned to dust,” Cyrus continues. “Baby, we were found, but now we’re lost / So it’s time to let it go.”

Cyrus goes on to make a drug and alcohol reference, singing, “I want my house in the hills / don’t want the whisky and pills / I don’t give up easily but I don’t think I’m down.”

“Move on, we’re not 17 / I’m not who I used to be,” Cyrus adds. “You said that everything changed / You’re right I’m grown now.”

Though photographs of her kissing longtime friend Kaitlynn Carter were released just hours after Cyrus, 26, and Hemsworth, 29, released a joint statement on Saturday about their separation, multiple sources told PEOPLE earlier this week the couple aren’t officially their marriage any time soon.

“They have a long history together, and that’s a huge part of why she has a hard time letting him go,” said a source close to the singer. “At the end of the day, she wants to be happy, and she genuinely wants Liam to be happy too.”

Multiple sources agree Cyrus and Hemsworth’s relationship was unhealthy, and the Cyrus source says their separation “is for the best” right now.

“They’re having a break right now because they needed it. It was a bad situation with a lot of disagreements,” said another source in Cyrus’ circle. “They both agreed it’s better to spend time apart, but this doesn’t mean their relationship is completely over.”

Another insider close to the couple — who have been on and off for a decade — previously said Cyrus “really fought to make” her marriage work. “She wanted to go to therapy,” said the insider. “She just wants to be in a healthy and focused place.”

Cyrus met Hemsworth, 29, in 2009 on the set of The Last Song, and had a rocky, on-again, off-again relationship for years before he proposed in 2012. The two ended their engagement and broke up a year later, befo

Taylor Swift Drops Title Track Off Lover and It Might Be Her Most Romantic Song Yet — Listen Now

There’s no doubt about it: Taylor Swift is head over heels in love(r) with boyfriend Joe Alwyn.

On Friday, the Grammy-winner, 29, released the highly anticipated title track off her upcoming seventh studio album, Lover, and the song certainly lives up to its name.

While Swift doesn’t refer to her British beau, 28, by name, it’s obvious the romantic track was inspired by their romance.

“I’ve loved you three summers now, honey / But I want them all,” sings Swift, who is rumored to be celebrating her third anniversary with the actor this year.

In her recent Vogue cover story, the superstar said the ballad features one of her “favorite bridges,” and that she “was really able to go to Bridge City” for the song.

“Ladies and gentleman / Will you please stand / With every guitar string scar on my hand / I take this magnetic force of a man to be my lover,” she sings on the sweeping bridge.

After previewing the track — which even includes a reference to Christmas (perhaps that’s why a Christmas tree was included in her “ME!” music video?) — with Vogue earlier this month, Swift had her fans buzzing over a possible engagement because of the lyrics “My heart’s been borrowed and yours has been blue.”

However, it doesn’t appear the couple — who have kept their relationship tightly under wraps — have taken the next step quite yet.

During an Instagram Live last month, Swift revealed the four Target special editions of her upcoming album will include 120 pages of diary pages written throughout her life.

“I found some crazy stuff in there. I found the original lyrics of ‘All Too Well,’ which I didn’t even know that I had in my diaries,” she said. “It’s everything from being 13 and coming home from a bad day at school to Grammy night to processing my life as a teenager.”

Swift previously released “You Need to Calm Down,” “The Archer,” and “ME!” from Lover, which is set for release on Aug. 23.

Drew Barrymore Looks Toward Daytime TV as She Shoots CBS Talk Show Pilot: Report

Drew Barrymore is heading toward daytime television!

Fresh off of serving as a judge on reality talent competition The World’s Best, the actress, 44, is returning to the small screen — but this time, for a talk show.

This week, Barrymore reportedly shot a pilot in New York for a potential CBS daytime talk show, according to Variety.

If the show — which Barrymore is expected to executive produce — moves forward, it will likely be under consideration for the 2020-21 season, the outlet reports.

A rep for Barrymore did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment and CBS had no comment when reached.

Barrymore’s show would join a number of other programs that are set to debut in the fall, hosted by stars including Kelly Clarkson, Tamron Hall and Mel Robbins.

This wouldn’t be the first time that Barrymore has considered moving into the daytime television realm, either.

Back in 2016, the star was in discussions with Warner Bros. Telepictures about hosting a talk show, but the project never came to fruition, according to Variety.

News of the pilot comes four months after Santa Clarita Diet, the Netflix series which Barrymore starred in and executive produced, was canceled following its third season.

“The world has never known a ‘zom-com’ until Santa Clarita Diet, and we’re indebted to creator Victor Fresco for bringing this idea to Netflix,” Netflix said in a statement of the show, starring Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“To their endless credit, the incredible Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant were totally game, with an uncanny knack for comedy that brought Sheila and Joel Hammond to vibrant life, even though one of them was undead,” the statement continued, referencing Barrymore’s character Sheila, who eventually turns into a zombie.

The actress then went on to judge the CBS talent competition, The World’s Best, alongside RuPaul and Faith Hill. James Corden served as host for the reality program, which wrapped its first season in March 2019.
