Suspended Atlanta Falcons player Michael Vick canceled an appearance on the "Tom Joyner Morning Show" on Tuesday because his advisers told him to, the radio host said.
The Dallas-based show continued promoting the appearance Monday, the same day Vick entered a guilty plea to a federal dogfighting conspiracy charge in Richmond. The show said Vick would take calls from listeners.
Joyner told listeners Tuesday that Vick had called to say he could not be on the show, according to the show's Web site. "He really wants to do it, but all of his advisers are advising him not to, because everyone is taking what he says out of context," Joyner said.
Vick is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 10. The NFL has suspended him indefinitely without pay until the end of his court case.
